History of the Institute
Government Industrial Training Institute Kathua (ITI) was established in the year 1981 by the Technical Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir under the overall aegis of Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India New Delhi. At the beginning ITI Kathua was started in rented building of Municipal Council Kathua and new ITI Building was inaugurated by then Hon’ble Education Minister J&K Jenab Ali Mohd Naik on 10-08-1984 . The ITI has covered about 19 kanals of land. This Institute started with the five trades i.e., Electrician, Painter General, Welder, Sewing Technology and Stenography & Secretarial Assistant (English). In the meantime two more trades namely Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Turner were sanctioned in 1985 by the Government taking the total strength of trades to Seven. Presently the institute is running 15 NCVT & 6 SCVT Trades. The institute involved not only in training activities but also performing successful activities such as motivation campaign, entrepreneurship campaign, campus interview, and cultural activities as well as sports activities.
